Social Bartering with Favabank...

Favabank Community Bartering Favabank is modernising the age old idea of barter, exchanging items and time as favours between members of your community. Connect with people in your neighbourhood via the exchange of favours.

Bartering Favours Next time you need a helping hand or need to borrow something, why not try to source it from your local community?

Barter and Recycle Your Unwanted Stuff All barter exchanges are tracked using a virtual currency called a 'Fava', to create a 'gift economy' where the more you have given, the more likely that people will want to reciprocate. The Fava is the foundation for 'pay it forward' economics.

National Declutter Week...

Posted by John Durrant on Friday 9th March 2012, 10:19AM

Apparently we're in the middle of a National Declutter Week 7th - 18th March, 2012. I didn't realise there was a nationwide network of professional declutterers until speaking with Cherry Rudge, who is responsible for marketing and PR at APDO UK (The Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers UK).

APDO UK is a a professional organisation which promotes the benefits of a clutter free, more organised lifestyle and helps people to find a professional declutterer in their local area via a geographical 'Find a Declutterer' section on their website.

Members of APDO UK agree to abide by a professional code of ethics which promotes high standards of service and integrity amongst its members so if you're thinking of hiring a professional declutterer it would be worth your while choosing and APDO UK registered member. The APDO UK website and 'find a declutterer' service are at

Favabank can also help you to declutter by advertising those items in your home or your shed that are just taking up space that someone else could be making good use of. Everyone has stuff they need to get rid of and with Favabank you can earn Fava credits for passing on your items, rather than carting them off to the landfill site. Your Fava credits will sit in your Favabank account until some point in the future when you're in need an item or a favour and you can ask for help via Favabank.

Personally I am a bit of a clutterer myself so I'm in no position to give any advice on the subject of decluttering, talk to the experts via APDO if you need some help...
